Chapter 01 · The Producer
A washed AB from the Githembe Coffee Factory, in the hills northwest of Nairobi.
Located in Kiambu County, around 47 kilometres northwest of Nairobi, the Githembe Coffee Factory operates under the Thirika Farmers Co-operative Society. Sitting at approximately 1,800 metres above sea level, the factory supports a vibrant coffee-growing community where coffee plays an important role in local employment, education and infrastructure. Coffee trees thrive beneath Grevillea and indigenous shade trees in rich red volcanic soils. Following harvest, the coffee undergoes meticulous preparation before being slowly sun-dried on tables — a careful process that preserves the quality of the bold AB-grade beans and highlights the classic character of Kenya's celebrated varieties.Githembe Coffee Factory · Kiambu, Kenya
